Michaela Gschwendtner |New Business Manager

As a certain Mr Branson once said, “Take care of your employees, and they’ll take care of your business”.

Small but effective workplace considerations, such as good ventilation, comfortable room temperature, plenty of personal space and ambient lighting really makes a difference to staff morale, and it is these simple additions that we understand all too well.

At MediaCom, we like to do as much for our staff as we can, and that means going the extra mile. Happy staff who work well together and exceed themselves in their abilities will always be important to our business model. That’s why we created MediaCom Voice, our staff committee which consists of a Social Committee, Charity Committee, and Welfare & Culture team.

With all our committees at work, MediaCom really is a place that buzzes with potential. And, as much as we would like to claim our buzz simply comes from within, it actually comes from the 4th floor, from our in-house barista. We all call him “Coffee Chris” which we are sure is the name on his birth certificate because his coffee is that good. Deliciously rich cappuccinos, lattes, Americanos, and mochas are slurped every morning without a penny being exchanged: that’s right, they’re all free!

On sunny Friday afternoons, Coffee Chris trades in his coffee grinder for sizzling skewers as he serves up delicious BBQs on our roof terrace to celebrate another glorious end to the week.

Along with sumptuous coffee, a range of cereals and fresh fruit are offered daily, which are also free for staff to munch on. Healthy staff are happy staff, right?

Many of our employees usually have their healthy breakfast after their free yoga session, also organised by MediaCom. Staff are treated to a spectacularly soothing morning Vinyasa Flow session every Tuesday from Cariad Yoga, making sure staff are relaxed and primed, ready for the day ahead. Eirian, yoga instructor at Cariad Yoga, tells us why she chose MediaCom to host her classes:

“I feel very honoured to be part of MediaCom’s yoga tribe. It’s a safe space where we can all laugh, vent, keep fit and find some peace of mind. The fact that regular students come back week by week shows that something is working for them – and I’m sure they will all have different reasons why they’re drawn to getting out of bed an hour earlier every Tuesday! I’ll leave you with my favourite Yoga quote from Ymber Delecto: ‘Yoga is invigoration in relaxation. Freedom in routine. Confidence through self control. Energy within and energy without’.”

We also recently introduced office chair massages, which help prevent the tightness that naturally comes from sitting at a desk all day. Massages are offered twice a month on-site by our masseur, Lauren; you can usually spot the ones who have been given the VIP treatment as they float along the corridor.
