We were delighted to welcome our friends from Smart Works back to MediaCom Manchester on Thursday for an exclusive evening led by two icons of the fashion industry. Smart Works patrons, Betty Jackson OBE and Jane Shepherdson MBE, were on hand to tell attendees about the success of the charity so far, and to appeal for trustees and volunteers who can help take Smart Works to the next level.
The charity was set up to help unemployed women back into work by providing a high-quality interview clothing, along with one-to-one coaching and advice for the actual interview.
Thursday’s event at MediaCom was held to recruit for three specific roles:
- Trustees of Smart Works Greater Manchester, to lead the development of the organisation, help oversee governance and operations and raise vital funds
- Volunteer stylist or interview coach, able to dedicate approximately a day a week (for dressing) or a day a month (for coaching) from the Smart Works centre in Stockport
- Events committee members to help run the inaugural Smart Works ball, the Smart Night Out, on Thursday 16 March 2017
