In today’s fast paced, ever changing world, marketers rarely get an opportunity to step back and take in the breadth of opportunities the industry is throwing at them. With innovations in technology taking media by storm, this can confuse even the savviest of advertiser. To remedy this for our clients, we created MediaCom’s very first Media Owner Speed Dating event!

One afternoon in November in Leeds, we invited 7 forward thinking media owners to set up stall. They each had 15 minutes to romance the audience, comprising of both clients and MediaCom staff, with their innovation. Then on a strict schedule, after 15 minutes our teams moved onto their next hot media owner date!

The event aimed to give each team a quick taste of some new and exciting innovations available in media. Limiting each pitch to 15 minutes kept them informative and exciting, but barred the dreaded sales spiel!

We had media owners presenting on a variety of hot topics; from Global Radio’s love for everything digital audio through to Storyful’s deep affection for user generated content.

It’s safe to say it was love at first sight, with one client saying;

“I came away with a pocket full of post-it notes with ideas and ways we could incorporate these ideas into our media mix. I’d really like to do this on a bi-monthly or even quarterly basis”

All 25 clients who attended came away with a new idea that subsequently led to several new campaign briefs the following week.
