Back in 2014, having witnessed the outstanding success that our London office had experienced, MediaCom North made the decision to engage with the increasingly popular Apprenticeship route as a new channel to harness and develop our future entry level talent. The scheme proved to be massively beneficial to both the apprentices and the business, and we are now in the middle of the recruitment cycle for our 3rd annual cohort across the North offices. I am certain that this year’s intake will be just as fabulous as the previous two!

Historically, we had always targeted the graduate market when looking for candidates for our entry level roles and, while we will still recruit at this level, we actively complement our junior talent pipeline by bringing in smart, ambitious individuals who have a desire to ‘learn the ropes’ at a market leading media agency without having to have been to university first.

We have worked hard to ensure that we can offer an exciting and challenging development path for individuals who are successful in coming to join us and it is testament to the guys that are already here that we have a 100% pass rate for the qualification frameworks we offer. All the apprentices who have already completed their courses have stayed with us (having been promoted into Assistant roles) and their enthusiasm, creativity and positive attitudes to their future career with us make them assets in the teams they have been placed in.

Having worked with, and seen the phenomenal progress of, our apprentices over the last 3 years, my advice to anyone who isn’t sure whether to head down the apprenticeship or university route is to seriously consider the apprenticeship option. You will come out of it with a meaningful qualification, you are being paid while you study, and you will also have the benefit of a years’ experience in business when you have finished your course, which provides a great launch pad for the rest of your career. What’s not to like about that?

So, as for 2017 at MediaCom North, we are now mid-way through sourcing candidates to attend this year’s Media Apprentice assessment days for our Leeds and Manchester offices in April. So, I would absolutely encourage anyone who is interested in an apprenticeship at the number one media agency in the UK to get in touch as we would love to hear from you before the application deadline on Monday 3rd April 2017!
